results....

Well of course I was hoping for an instant fuse of the bone, but there has been some bone growth. The Dr. said that it has not gotten worse and there has been some remodeling but she said that I could expect it to take the full 12 weeks to heal... 6 and counting.. next apt. on Oct. 27th.

Study habits...

Sunday Steph mentioned this study method for remembering letter combinations such as ou, ch, th and so on. The letters are printed on little cards with a picture of a duck on them. The curriculum said that when the student gets the right sound to say quack quack as the duck flies from the pond. This is Daddy's version, much more fun.

A reminder of why we teach @ home...

We went to a family reunion today and the kids always keep us up to date of any shenanigans that they decide not to be a part of. Noah ushered Grace and Joe upstairs to eat when some kids were using "harsh" words. Joe came to me and said that one of the cousins had used the "RUN AWAY" code... "Don't tell your Dad." This had been in reference to the proposed act of throwing rocks at a hornet nest. I was then watching the kids all play together and Joe was climbing a flag pole to which Noah said, "Joe's a monkey." One of the cousins said, " yeah, my science textbook says that monkeys are our ancestors." Noah's head jerked back and he turned to his cousin and said "Do you believe that God created the Earth?...(sure) You know evolution and the Bible are completely against each other because ..... Good boy, Noah.

My Ehud

Temporarily being unable to lift my left arm has been a burden . It has however brought about some necessary changes. In prep for the start of school (that term bugs me) I bought some shelf materials at Lowe's to house the abundance of this and that. The Kids helped me select and load what we needed, pushed the cart and loaded it in the van. When I started to put them up in the back room I realized, "I need two hands." I have to admit when I feel pressured or rushed. it is at times easier to do things myself than slow down and walk the kids through it. Things have changed and now I need somebody to help. I called the boys in and handed them hammers, screwdrivers, tape and a level. They were both thrilled. I walked them through instalation of three shelves with only one real injury than hardley bled at all. It brought to mind Ehud. (Judges 3) Those boys are my good left arm.

might be good, might be bad...

We went to the Dr today for follow-up xrays and there has been no visible bone growth but no further seperation of the bone(s). The little shred of bone that is connecting the two pieces remains intact. I was nervous that swatting that evil horse fly last week might have snapped it. There is a big space between the bones so it is no surprise that there is no connection as of yet. It could take up to 8 weeks to make the bridge. We thank God for the wonderful way He designed our bodies to heal. Two bones that are not even pointing at each other will find their way through the muscle and tendons to reconnect what was once whole. I'm glad I'm not in charge of making them connect.

Fruit of our lips... Every Word

By Him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to His name. (Hebrews 13:15)
